Another first for me this week: Ironing Brian’s uniform.
We had a little lesson one evening. Brian demonstrated on a Chambray, then nervously watched as I tried my hand on his dress white. He only jumped in once when it looked like I was going to iron “railroad tracks” on his sleeve crease. He then introduced me to spray startch and his method of making those extra crisp tucks and creases. It’s all rather complicated at first, but it really turns out a nice product.
Men in uniform are very handsome.

Brian had a few first’s this week:
For the first time in our entire relationship (a whole five months!) Brian didn’t open my car door to get me out when we stopped! On the way home from Thanksgiving with my family we came across a two car wreck – looked like they had hit each other and one car then plowed into a light post. We were the first ones on the scene – the accident victims weren’t even out of their cars yet. Brian pulled to the side of the road and rushed out to see if he could help in any way, I followed close behind. He helped a guy who was kind of beat up and unconscious at first until the police arrived on the scene, at that point it looked like the guy would be fine and we left. I again opened my own door, this time because Brian had blood all over his hands – we stopped at the nearest gas station so he could wash up.
The other first was that he ate a meal by himself for the first time since we had been married. I had to go into town and do some shopping and work on getting my passport changed and thus was gone over lunch. He sent a sad email to my account for me to see when I got home about how lonely it was in the dining hall without me.
Tonight I’m going to have a first of my own – a computer lesson on website building basics. Should be interesting.
Now I have to go meet my man for lunch

Well, it’s a day late, but I’ll bet you can all guess what I’m thankful for.

In honor of the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving, I’m going to post a little about cooking here in my new house.
I’m happy as a lab in water in my little kitchen and have utilized just about every dish and utensil that I have. The pots work great and I love the knives – they’re so sharp!
Things are cooking…..
Making lasagna right now. Have you ever made one in a loaf pan before? It was the only thing I could think of that was small enough to be for two people!
The big one is for guests.
Next I broke in my new mixer with a good batch of ginger snaps!
Ahh…the kitchen has now been properly christened.
Of course, after I’m done in the kitchen there’s usually a LOT of dishes! (As my family may well remember)
Fortunately I have a great dish washer! (It came with the apartment).

I’m happy to say that Brian is on the mend! He took today off from work ( ) to try and get some food back into his system. I tried to accommodate him as well as I could by making homemade chicken noodle soup – works every time. Next I got him outside in the fresh air (and aired out our apartment too) as we biked into Big Sandy to mail the thank you notes I had finished.
As his health returned our roles began to switch and he started taking care of me. On arriving back at the apartment I said playfully that I didn’t feel like going back in there yet so he took me on a long walk to some areas of campus I had not seen before. After successfully curing his girl of cabin fever he then indulged a craving that had been growing in me all day long – I wanted something sweet, like ice cream or brownies. After supper we went to get a few things for his computer project at the house then found a brownie that really hit the spot. Ahh, all is good now.
