Today Brian and I ran in a race! It was just a 5K run but we had a great time doing it – it was fun just to be back in that atmosphere again. We didn’t win any great prizes – the overall winner had a time of 14:55! He was booking it! I’m afraid 4 month pregnant and a little out of shape pushed my mile time up to 9min a mile but it was fun just to run again. Oh, and the fun thing about this run is that a ticket to the fair is included in everyone’s runner packet so I’ll be enjoying an outing sometime in the near future!
–Brian’s note: at 4 months pregnant, Amy finished 7th in her age group with a time of 26:35. I came in 5th for my age group with a time of 22:37 (thanks to Amy for keeping me running a couple of times every week). We had a great time and ate lots of apples

Okay, I finally pulled the pictures off of Brian’s phone and put them on my computer and now have actually sat down to make up a post with them!
First off, Brian’s department is in the middle of moving from one building to another. But I did get to see his temporary office last week:
Wow, does that look techy or what?
Can you believe he works on all of these at the same time? One is his laptop, one is a computer he was rebuilding or something and I guess the other is his office computer. The little thing on his ear is the bluetooth headset for his cell phone – wireless and hands free, he loves it! Whenever his phones goes off he can just touch the ear-piece and start talking.
Here is the skyline of where he works – the main building in the middle is where the new office will be, the third building from the left is where he currently works.
Here is the new office building up close. He’ll be on the 14th floor. Williams Square is apparently famous for the horse statues in front which I’ll try and get a picture of later.
I’ve also been able to meet several of Brian’s co-workers. They’re really nice and we hope to have most of them over for dinner at some point. Brian is the young guy on the team but due to his past experience with the ALERT network is able to troubleshoot and help out with the best of them. He’s having a great time and I’m really excited about the things he’s able to work with and learn.

Tadpole:
Well, here’s the kiddo! Maybe you can make out a profile of a baby sucking it’s thumb.
A really kind lady that we met at a church we were trying out on Wed. knew a friend of ours and in the course of the conversation she offered to give me a sonogram for free! So Saturday we went to the Birth Center, had a little tour, met some of the midwives and best of all, got to see our baby!
It’s still a little early to determine sex plus the baby had it’s legs modestly crossed the whole time, but that’s okay, we sort of want it to be a surprise anyways. It was just fun to see our baby and be told that it was perfectly normal, and exactly as far along as we thought it was – 14 weeks and five days. This gives me a due date of March 18th.
It’s pretty amazing to think of the whole process, how I walk (or bike) around town and nobody would even guess that a miracle was taking place inside of me. To watch the baby jerk around and wave it’s arms and be so perfectly whole when it’s a mere 4 in. long is amazing! Most of man’s inventions when they first start out are big and clumsy – think of the first computer – and over time they are perfected down to smaller and more advanced machines. God however starts them out small and advanced yet leaving each model with room to be uniquely shaped and molded to where it becomes like none other here on earth!

A five hour date and two break-ins.
It all started with a Saturday outing to IKEA – a big
furniture store in north Dallas. We were going to make a date of it by going
out to Texas Roadhouse as well (a little farther north). Being later in the
afternoon by the time we were on our way we decided to eat first so our
browsing wouldn’t be rushed.
All seemed fine and
dandy as we walked out of the restaurant around 6:00pm until we got to the car
and realized that both sets of keys were inside the car…and it was locked.
An $85 locksmith
fee was enough incentive to turn Brian into the newest pop-a-lock business and
we set off to scrounge up some supplies. He found two wooden stakes in the
parking lot that he could use for wedges – now, where could we get a wire hanger?
Fortunately there
was a clothing store nearby…unfortunately, the newest style for hanging clothes
is plastic hangers. We checked through the local Albertsons in search of
something…anything we could use. Finally, someone we had asked to check the back
dock found a coworker who used his car antennae to open his door “all the
time!”
Back at our car
with renewed hope the guys set to work. I watched with interest for about half
an hour…with waning optimism for another half hour…and sat on the curb in
discouragement and prayer for yet another hour.
The antennae and a
belt finally managed to pop the trunk where we thought one set of keys might be
– no such luck. We couldn’t even get through the back seat into the car because
they had a latch on the inside. Oh well, at least we know how difficult it is
to break into a Camry.
By this time it was
8:30 – our two helpful guys left and Brian called the locksmith again – $95 and
an hour wait…and our cell phone battery was almost dead – there had to be a better way! Who comes to mind but my faithful
and every ready friend, Bekah! It was something like this: “hi, our keys are
locked in the car, could you break into our apartment through an unlocked window on the second floor, get the spare key out
of the desk and bring it to our location, 30 min away?” True to the family
nature, she, and Sam and Jonathan and her dad, were ready to come to our
rescue.
They arrived on the
scene around 10:30, we unlocked the car, then went in the restaurant to reward
everyone with a round of dessert. We left at closing – 11:00 which made our date there a total of five hours! We said our thanks
and goodbyes and everyone went back to their own places. What a night!
First attempted break-in The rescue group – Jonathan (far left) making the actual break-in.
