Life with Lance

Here’s a little bit of what has happened the last two weeks….

Today Lance got to try his first “real” food – squash! He looked a bit surprised but sucked it down like everything else we give him. I don’ think he’s going to be a picky eater.

Beautiful weather inspired a picnic with friends! Lance enjoyed the trees while Matthew made sure he didn’t steal any goldfish crackers.

Playtime is becoming a lot more fun now that he can sit up – yes they’re the same toys, but they look different from this angle…

Lance loves to cook with Mommy – everything fascinates him and with the help of my ergo carrier he can get off the cabinet and get in the action! His favorite is to watch bubbling pots (from a safe distance of course).

We’re also experimenting with infant potty training – the way I heard it explained seems doable without spending hours in the bathroom. We had four successful attempts today – probably saved me two diaper changes (sometimes the diaper is already wet when we try but he goes anyhow).

His days are so full that sometimes sleep comes before he’s ready. Here he was playing during supper and slowly nodded off.

He’s also picked up a new sleeping position – kind of on his side. I think that secretly it’s his protest for naptime but somehow sleep always gets the better of him.

We have good times together laughing over laundry, listening to Spanish tapes or quietly doing our own things. But best of all is when Daddy comes home – both of our faces break out into a smile and we serve up the supper that we made together.  Lance is a great little buddy to have around.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
