We are at my grandparents to visit for a few days. These are my mom’s parents but we call them Gram and Grandpa. We’ve spet many summers at their house; swimming, going to the beach, riding bikes, playing at the park, T.V., monopoly, slip’n slide…I have many good memories.

Here’s a four generation shot. This is the only pictre you’ll get because the upload is being funny.

While I’ve been here I’ve been thinking a lot about married life. We were at a wedding this weekend where I watched my friends vow to love each other for better or worse…till death do us part. Gram is now in a nursing home, so different than the bride my grandpa vowed to love 54 years ago and yet, it’s like they’re still dating. Grandpa goes and spends visiting hours with her every day, trying to break up the monotony. He told me that he tries to bring her something special every day – yesterday it was two home-grown cherry tomatoes. Gram isn’t always very responsive, but he spends the time with her anyhow…every day….every week….I think he’s in love with her
I’m way from my husband right now, he carries on at the house, working hard to provide for Lance and I while we’re out having fun. He calls me every evening so we can talk and tell each other that we miss them. It’s like we’re courting again.
My Dad too is out working hard while the family is away. He’s putting in extra hours, even sleeping at the job site to save commuting time and gas, getting things done so he can enjoy the family when we get back.
Our men go to great lengths to provide for and take care of their women and children. It’s so neat to watch these amazing men and the good example they are providing for the next generation. May we as wives honor them because they truly are honorable. Thank God for these wonderful husbands.

Beach Fun!

Lance and I are down visiting my grandparents near Corpus Christi. My siblings and I were all introduced to the beach here, and yesterday I had the priviledge of introducing my own son to the ocean…

He was thrilled to be there.

Once he woke up, we put on his little swim trunks, and carried him down to the water. I dipped his feet in and let the waves wash against his little body, jumping him up whenever they were too big. Once a big one hit me and splashed higher than I anticipated and got his face. Tasting the salt water, Lance dropped his stoic expression for a surprised one and smacked his lips several times trying to figure out this new sensation.

My little spartan finally got cold so I wrapped him up in a big towel and left him to play with aunt Lori while I hit the waves with my brothers.

After dinner, we carried out our tradition of making a sand sculpture – this year’s inspiration coming from having Lance with us. We built a dragon for “Sir Lance, Sleepalot” to slay.

Achieving victory, Sir Lance was carried home on his silver horse (our car) to wash the sand off and go to sleep, ready for the next days adventures!

Faces: by Lance

Lance can make some great faces which I thought y’all might enjoy.

Uncle Benj. took most of these when we were at Devil’s Den.

Here’s a happy baby, ready to start the day!

Soooo, who has the bigger belly?

Are we almost there yet?

Mom! Do ya hafta wipe my nose?

Winking

Puzzled

Goofy

All that posing got him tuckered out! He was glad to find someone his own size to snuggle with.

Father’s Day

I know this is a little late for a Father’s day post, but since I’m not omniscient it’s hard for me to write about something until it’s over.

We planned a “date night” at the park where I grilled steak and we played Bocce ball (I beat Brian even though it was Father’s day) Lance celebrated by taking a nap on his blanket in the grass.

Brian has been an amazing dad. He really delights in his son and loves playing with him and teaching him to say “Daddy”. He takes his role seriously, having us read training books together and pitching in to change the yucky diapers. Everything is worth the reward of Lance’s smile.

I see Christ in Brian every day. He serves others, he is honest, he is loving and gentle, he is courageuos and stands for what is right. He listens with his heart, he maintains communication, he frequently praises my efforts and speaks well of his wife and son to others. He is persistant and makes sure what he does is done well. I’m proud of him and hope that Lance grows up to be just like his daddy.

Happy Father’s Day!!!
