Washing up

At our recent visit to Grammy and Papa’s house Lance got to have quite a bit of fun.

We visited the barn to milk the goats – though Lance was more interested in the dirt!

Sunday morning Lance and Daddy washed all the city grime off of the car

Lance is a good car washer!

Lance got a wash too.

Wedding

To regress a little – here are the pictures I have of Lori’s wedding:

Rehearsal dinner – Abbie and Ivy – cousins!

My brother, Michael, and his oldest, Connor. Getting ready for the important job of ring bearer! This big fellow was my ring bearer when he could barely walk down the aisle!

My two beautiful sisters as bridesmaids – Stacie and Katie

And of course, the beautiful bride with her three nieces – Abbie and Elizabeth were flower girls, Ivy was just cute. Ivy did add her two cents worth to the wedding with a squawk or two but otherwise she was blissfully asleep for the entire ceremony and reception.

Mr. Fix-it

This post is written while I am in total awe of my smart, incredibly talented and resourceful husband. Starting the evening that Ivy was born, my camera has been mal-functioning, –  such bad timing too, right when I have a new photography subject!  It totally refused to recover after acting up at our midwife appointment and I figured we’d have to send it off for several weeks to have it repaired….or condemned. Brian had other ideas however…..

Brian figured if it was already broken, it wouldn’t hurt to take it apart and attempt a repair

The first major task was just getting the cover off. Next he found the little gears that moved the lens in and out ( the crux of the malfunction).

Sorry this picture is blurry – with my camera down I had to resort to Brian’s phone camera 🙂

After playing with the gears and little motor for quite some time, he discovered by trial and error that the motor needed a little pressure on top and everything worked beautifully. He cut a little piece out of a jar gripper (the black circle in the picture) to act like a rubber washer and carefully reassembled the camera. All now works well and I can resume my picture taking/blogging.

So those of you who enjoy the pictures on this blog – say thanks to Brian!

Progress report

We had our two week check up at the midwife on Wed.

Ivy weighs 9 pounds – up a pound from her birth weight!

Lance has gained half a pound – bulking up so his sister doesn’t catch him

I’ve lost 20 pounds – I guess it’s going straight to Ivy

Lance is becoming a big boy by doing nights and naps without his pacifier now. He has taken up with a blankie though.

Ivy is sleeping five hours at night and occasionally hitting a 7-8 hour stint!

I’m walking a little bit again and itching for the go ahead to run.

Lance and I have been doing the summer reading program at the library and hope to collect our free book next week.

He often takes advantage of Ivy’s eating time to get in a quick story. But if mommy is busy then he’s taken to reading the books himself.

All in a days work

Here’s a new rendition on an old poem that I made up today. Enjoy!

Grow up, we’ve learned to our sorrow.

So quiet down laundry….I don’t think I’ll sweep

We’ll play hard ‘till naptime   (painting with water)

So we can ALL sleep!

edit: Lance woke up early so mommy didn’t sleep – ah well, I’ll shoot for this afternoon.
