Early one morning

Morning has broken. Life is peaceful. Amy awakens. All is still calm.

Until the little tigers are released from their cages! Lance starts out strong by pooping on the floor – twice. The second time while mommy is searching in the dryer for a new diaper. He is  momentarily tamed while trying to peel a banana, and mommy starts breakfast.

Right in the thick of things Ivy lets out a wail – daddy intervenes and staves her off until breakfast is ready then everyone eats, even mommy gets by with one hand.

While lounging innocently in her boppy pillow, Ivy revisits breakfast – all over herself, the pillow and the floor. Ivy gets a bath.

Determined to change the course of the day mommy entertains both at once with a lotion session – Lance thinks this is great fun!

He is even more pleased when invited to take his turn on the towel.

Ignoring breakfast dishes, laundry and a mess that needed attention, mommy took both cubs to the park to prowl around.

Sweaty and sandy, Lance takes a quick dip in the pool before nursing/reading time, lunch, pick up and nap.

With one safely behind bars, a few things got done. Now it’s time to feed the little one. So enjoy a video of my sweet little wild ones!

Baby or Big Boy?

Lance has been making some incredible steps in communication skills – sometimes it seems he’s growing so fast!

At other times my big man regresses….

Yesterday he found a pacifier we used for Ivy (he’s being weaned from them) got a blankie and curled up to sleep on the floor….with wet underwear of course.

It’s amazing how he can be “so big” and yet still a baby 🙂

I love my little boy.

Storm

About 5:30 this morning I awoke with a start to a big boom of thunder. As I drifted back to sleep I could hear it raining wildly outside….

Later that morning the kids and I went for a walk to survey the damage – we think there was some lightning involved.

This tree was split three ways at the base.

Here’s the breakup – probably at least 3 feet across.

We enjoyed the cool weather by playing at the park…

But had to hurry home as another storm came.

Our first outing

Yesterday the kids and I took our first outing out by ourselves. After getting everybody ready and everything packed up, we took off to check out a petting zoo at a park.

Lance and Ivy are excited to see the animals…at least, Lance is.  A deer and a peacock were interesting additions to the usual barn animals.

Lance loved going back and forth over this little bridge – the up and down of the ramps were an exciting challenge to his balance.

After the animals we took our picnic lunch to the park – peanut butter and jelly and goldfish!! Lance worked on stair climbing almost the entire time – the hand rails let him do it standing up.

Meanwhile, I did a small photo shoot of Ivy because she was so cute. I tried to get the kids together but decided that took two people.

Our final stop was the library to pick up Lance’s free book for doing the Summer reading club.

We got back home hot and tired so after naps and supper we went swimming with Daddy. What a fun day!
