I could really use some prayer support today if you care to lift me up. I’ll explain later.

Report from camp – a picture post.

Sandy Creek Bible Camp was to be a time of bonding between me and my little sister Katie – me having been gone so much lately and looking at another month away (working at this same camp).

This is my whole cabin on the first theme night – Strangers in a foreign land (we were studying the book of Ruth). We were supposed to dress up like someone from another country, and due to my interest in the place, I picked Russia. The girls loved dressing up and I taught them several words in Russian, one being preevyet meaning hi and had them going around saying preevyet ya’ll – only in Texas

Katie enjoyed swimming and crafts….

…and of course the horse back riding.          And she earned the nickname “spider woman” on the rock wall.

I was concerned about some of the company she kept

The slip ‘n slide was my favorite part.

I think I was the biggest kid out there and the little ones took full advantage.

The bubbles at the end were the greatest! I haven’t had this much fun since….well, we’ll just keep that to ourselves. Let me tell you though, making 40 plus slides down the hill makes for sore stomach muscles the next day.

Katie confidently gave her testimony during campfire time and clearly explained the gospel – I was so proud of her and the witness she is already putting forth.

I put together a little gymnastics routine to the Star Spangled banner for the talent show. They all did such a great job – I was so proud of them!

And the last day, Katie entered the realm of Narnia and was crowned like queen Lucy for her successful completion of the memory work. She’s the greatest little sister anyone could ask for and I was so blessed to spend this week with her.

Hey all, I have internet access!
I’m taking some time out to post because something awesome happened just yesterday night. I have finally been able to participate in the final step of working in God’s “fields”. I’ve planted and I’ve watered but I’ve never been able to participate in the actual harvest before. Last night though, one of the girls in my cabin tapped my shoulder as the chapel session was ending and said she wanted to ask Jesus in her heart and wanted to know how to do it. This was definitely God giving the increase because the seed had been planted years ago by her grandmother, the plant had been watered by cabin devotions and chapel sessions and finally, I was blessed with the harvest.
The whole thing was awesome, I cried, she cried. She said it was emotional for her and she didn’t know why. At first she was embarrassed because she was “so old” (11) but afterwards she just wanted to tell everyone! I told her she was my sister now and she loved that idea. She would go up to other counselors and ask if they knew Jesus and when they said yes she would tell them that she was their new sister. That evening for cabin devotions she wanted to tell the whole cabin. We will have a time of testimony around a campfire tonight and it dawned on her that she now had a testimony that she could share! Boy was she ever excited about that!
So thanks to those who have prayed – now just praise God for the answer!

Okay, now I’m on wireless and the pictures had better work.

I’m Back! From five intensive weeks to
which only the hardcore need to apply. (Which makes me wonder why
this is my fourth running year)
This special report is to try and give
you a taste of what went on during this time of no contact with the
outside world (namely those on xanga). Readers, I give you STEP.
First off I will introduce the
leadership: Sharon and Jana

They had the phones so they made all
the calls. (okay that was bad, I know)

Recruited out of previous graduates
came myself, Tara and another Amy. We were each given the
responsibility of commanding somewhere around 28 girls.

To carry out this phenomenal task we
were each issued two assistants which headed the girls up in teams.
My two assignments were Catherine and Kim – two unassuming names
hiding personalities of intense loyalty and martyrdom…uh, I mean
sacrifice.

The first two weeks proved difficult as
we all worked out our differences. Sometimes I think they believed
STEP stood for Special Tactics Involving Problems. I had to resort to
my fail proof way of handling problems.

Once proper respect had been
established things started going better. I found that each girl was
unique and that fact was even reflected in their breakfasts!

The girls meet all challenges
fearlessly

They learned to be content with a
little…or a lot.

We even taught them home making and
cooking to keep the feminine aspect. (At least they’ll know how to
boil water when they get married).

And I think they even came to like me.

But there was still quite the line up
for the s’mores.

When all was said and done I came back
with everyone I started out with and I’m proud to say that they finished strong.
