Today I switched vans. Wait; is that the most interesting thing I can talk about? I guess it’s the closest thing on my memory besides supper and because we went to bed at 2 this morning and got up at 6:30 to tour D.C. I can only think of the most recent history. What’s really funny is that we’re here at Jeanne’s house and there are at least 8 laptops going. We are all in the same house, even narrowed down to two rooms and we’re talking to each other via our computers.

Anyhow, the vans. I switched because I felt really bad about riding in the van with the A/C while the others had to sweat it out in the other car. So I let someone have my space. My sacrifice wasn’t as great as I thought it would be because God decided to send cool weather and the car was as cool as if it really did have a working A/C. I love God.

I liked meeting Jonathan Boulden’s family and J.P.’s family; it’s always so amazing and fun to see family resemblance. Of course making breakfast with one of the little brothers gives conversation a good chance.

Lot’s of fun and interesting stuff happened on this trip, I hope we’ll be able to make some sort of report to the rest of the class. If not I’ll post some excerpts of an email I’m writing. Well this is kind of boring but my brain is fogging and I’ve had too many cookies. Goodnight all.

Wow has it been a while since an update. Well, maybe not too long, but a lot has happened in between times. First we got to see the beautiful countryside of Pennsylvania as a few of us explored the woods around Jeanne’s house. We got to watch a muskrat for a while and pick wild black raspberries.

Next was the seminar and boy was that ever good. I think the best thing I got out of it was not just a lot of knowledge to refute evolutionists, but a realization of how crucial Genesis is to the rest of the Bible.

There was an adventure one evening when Stacie, Mrs. Schrader and I decided to climb the mountain behind the dorms (okay so maybe it’s a big hill, but it seems like a mountain to a flat lander like me) anyhow one place was a little steep and Mrs. Schrader slipped and cut her hand. It bled a lot but she was very brave as we helped her back to the dorms where I got her cleaned up and bandaged. God helped us all keep our heads, and in His mercy let the cut not need stitches.

Now we’re in D.C. (or actually at Jonathan Boulden’s house). We got into the city around nine that evening, ate, then went to see some of the night life πŸ™‚ We were mostly it. We made it to the Washington monument around eleven, took lots of pictures (I got some great silhouettes) and some of our group played in the sprinklers.

Well now it’s two and we are supposed to be up again in a few hours to hit D.C. and the Smithsonians. Pray for Mr. Schrader and Cameron; they’re very tired and still have a lot of driving ahead of them.

Hi friends, most of you who read this are in Flint right now, I am at home πŸ™‚

But my luck is not going to hold out as long as it did in January; I’ll be seeing you tomorrow. On a side, are there any guys up there willing to house my brother for a few days? He’s a great guy; quiet, neat, fun to talk to and a great sense of humor.

Other news: Since my last post I’ve been busy visiting friends and doing all the things I enjoy doing that I can’t do, or are difficult to get done in Flint. One of the major things is jogging and sports (without the encumbrance of a skirt) I like jogging at home because I don’ have to worry about traffic or milkshakes, and I have a partner to jog with that’s ready to go at any time for any distance – my dog. She’s good to have along, drawing unwanted attention from the dogs on my routes away from me and onto her capable self. She always jumps up, excited to go and never complains, though she did start lagging and my 7 and 9 mile runs.

Yesterday was wonderful, and spent almost entirely outside even though it was 97 degrees. We started in the morning with a picnic breakfast out in the fields near our house where we picked wild grapes which we will use for juice and jelly. Then two of my brothers and I headed out to mow lawns for their landscaping business. Mowing from 11:30 to 4:00 is difficult in this heat. I also found out that those really nice thick lawns are really hard to push a mower through, I’m glad to help, but I’m also glad I don’t have to do this on a regular basis. May God bless you with many sons so that you never have to mow your own yard.

Since we worked non stop we didn’t get lunch until about 5:00, and we decided just to call it supper and forget lunch altogether. I took my little friends out with us, and then Halle (11) came home with us until soccer. She had some questions about the Lord and His ways and we had a very good talk, I’m so glad that God gave me the opportunity. I was able to give some examples from my life, show some truths from scripture and assure her of God’s love for her. Praise God!

What a great weekend! Camping, the lake, swimming all day, sunburn, a friend’s boat, water-skiing (that’s me in the profile pic) I got up on my very first try! After all day on the lake we came in for supper and I made apple pie in my dutch oven which we had with, what else, Blue Bell’s Homemade vanilla ice cream! πŸ™‚ How American is that! We played dutch blitz on the tarp until my brother’s little dogs got scared at some fireworks and ran across the cards. So we went down to the lake and sat on the dock to watch the show. Oh was it beautiful, a cool night breeze blowing, boat lights gently moving across the rippling water, fireworks lighting up the shoreline all around the lake, our family softly singing patriotic songs, my dog stretched out on the dock with her head in my lap; such peace, such contentment.

Right before I went to school God gave me several times of calm and beauty, as if I would need something to hold on to and remember during the busy times at Verity. Now He’s giving me some neat sights of the beauty of the outdoors to remember as I head back to the city. The lake was one, another was an incredible view of the Texas highways – yes they are beautiful, I have a picture. But one of the neatest came this morning; I was out jogging and my head was down looking at the paper which had the verses I was memorizing. Suddenly looking up I saw a doe standing not 20 feet away, she started to bound away but when I stopped so did she. We stood there silently regarding one another, a stillness and calm between us. This lasted at least a minute and then my dog (my faithful jogging companion) came running up from where she had been

We are supposed to be pulling in to our campground right now, but obviously I’m still at home. Why? My brother got FedEx-ed. This is a phenomena that happens to all FedEx employes; any time they have something to do or somewhere to go they get packages to far out places or get called in for a “meeting” with the boss. We experienced this quite often when my dad was still working for FedEx, sometimes a we would get a late start on a vacation, or dad wouldn’t be able to make it to an event of ours, or sometimes an outing would have to be cancelled all together. Of course, I can’t really complain too much, FedEx (along with God’s incredible workings) did manage to send us to England – long story.

All is not lost though, we had to eat supper here at the house instead of on the road which meant we had access to the freezer and the Blue Bell ice cream! I’m eating the flavor “Cookies, cookies, cookies” right now, it chocolate chip cookie dough with oreo cookies and oatmeal cookies in a vanilla ice cream – yummy! I’ve also been able to try several new flavors since coming home; Fresh Banana, Key Lime Pie, and Wedding cake (good, but doesn’t match my all time favorite, Birthday Cake)

All in all, God is good and I’m happy.
