This is a tribute to John.
He went above and beyond the call of duty when many other tasks were
pressing for his time. I lost about two and a half pages of my
portfolio on Tuesday and John spent hours trying to retrieve this
unsaved document. Unfortunately I managed to screw up beyond help even
though he downloaded special software and searched all around my hard
drive. Then, after all that work, he proceeded to improve my computer
with various setting changes, downloads and even gave me a tutorial on
how to use my new stuff. So this is a hearty thanks to John for his
generosity. Thanks to a modern day knight for helping with a modern day
distress.

Beautiful – that’s all I can say. I think being in the city enhances my appreciation for the beauty of nature. Slow pace, quaint shops, a walk down main street; all this is wonderful and calming. But the beach is a whole other story! Waves on the sand, gulls crying, the wind blowing and going out on a little rocky spit to skip rocks is perfection on this earth. The Coppersmiths live in a great place and I’m so thankful that God brought them across our path earlier this year.
Crystal and I went for a jog this morning – it only took us 20 minutes at a slow jog to make it around the whole city 🙂 Then we sat out on a stone jetty and sang to God, each from our own heart, while watching the waves break on the rocks. Bikers (the kind on bicycles) came through the town all morning on some Labor day weekend bike tour. Now we’re about to go boating, water skiing and maybe sailing! Life is good! I love it when God smiles on me, it makes me smile back even more.

Well, today is my one year aniversary of coming to Verity. That, coupled with the fact that I’m a senior, has made me realize that it’s time for me to retire – from dishpit. I should probably give service hour a rest too. I look forward to spending the rest of my life span here at Verity sitting in a chair outside my door and watching the people go by. I expect full benefits and a senior’s discount at meals, not to mention curbside service at church and on park nights. Also the class of ’07 will be taking up my tuition bills, seeing as I have paid into the system long enough and now deserve my returns, supported on the backs of this new generation “X”. Ah, life is grand.
