Well, right now I had planned to be in Dallas taking the Pixel This
course. God had other plans. There’s a lot behind all of it, but I’m
totally sure that God’s ways are best. I have a neat sort of peace
about it all and I’m glad that I can be right in the middle of where He
wants me to be.

Fellowship, it relieves the mind, fills the heart and feeds the soul;
it also reduces you to sitting on the floor and playing “get to know
you” games. (this happened rather late, after we had played ourselves –
or at least R.J. – to exhaustion) R.J. must have been really tired but I
liked his answers the best:
My favorite color is clear, because it goes with everything
I’m from Kansas and the best thing about the state is, that I am there.

Other good responses were:
I like white because it is a reflection of all the colors at once; it’s having all of them as your favorite – Stacie
I’m from D.C. and I like it because it’s not a state – J.P.
I like blue, teal blue, because…I don’t have any clothes that color – Emily
I like blue paint and orange marmalade mixed together – Cameron
Yep, I think it was pretty late.

Thank the Lord for my new “adviser”,
Elizabeth Ubert. Through her work and knowledge of the system, she
has managed to trade around portfolios and get me this neat one about
exercise and nutrition.
Here’s a little tidbit you might find
useful here at the Inn. I calculated that the total energy
expenditure from taking the stairs from the lobby to the fifth floor
is 3.5 Calories! That means if you take the stairs for all three
meals you can reward yourself with 1/26 of a candy bar! Either that
or a spear of raw broccoli. Have a good day!

This is an email that Stacie wrote about our Tuesday discussion group, I thought ya’ll might enjoy it.

Philosophical Musings

Dear fellow
agnostics,

To my intense
disgust, the apologist, John MacArthur, is allowing his most recent
book, Think Biblically! to
be used as college curricula in a private college! For this, there
can be no apology! He postulates that the antiquated, documents of a
primitive Palestinian tribe is sufficient for life and knowledge in
the 21 st century! His basis for this ludicrous belief is
founded in the “natural” and “special” revelation of the
divine.

Of course, he got it right when he quoted Descartes’ “Cogito,
ergo sum”
(I think, therefore I am) as being foundational in
our movement. It places human reasoning at the center, with all
other truths revolving around it. And, we must not forget that it
promoted Doubt as one of our highest intellectual values. At all
costs, solid truth must never be espoused.

Although the book recognizes our order, it has the audacity to doubt
the Doubters and make a stand for Truth! This must be dealt with
before these helpless students are brainwashed! Perhaps a friendly
letter to your nearest ACLU representative would be in order. We
have a noble cause worth fighting for: Doubt, without the suppression
of truth!

Keep up the good work,

N.O.T. Thinking (Therefore, I am not)

Next weeks Philosophical Musings issue includes my new poem, Ode to
Doubt. Don’t miss it.

We made it! Today Stacie and I are off our “diet”! And what better day
could it be than the day we are greeted with grits and cheese for
breakfast! Sorry, I get excited about grits. It’s been a month since we
ate any dairy, starch or carbohydrate (except for ice cream once a week
) The reason we started this
diet was sort of a group thing with the nutrition class (ah! peer
pressure!) and I just wanted to see exactly what it would do to my
body, being in a generally healthy state to begin with – praise God!

Well it totally sapped my energy for the first two weeks, then when I
started adding rice and oats things picked up a little and jogging
wasn’t so hard. My soccer game has suffered with the lowered energy so
I’m looking forward to gaining that back, and I feel like I’ve been in
my room more – though amount of schoolwork might have had more to do
with that.
On the up side I lost a few pounds, felt pretty good (though not
abounding with energy) and found some new foods and ways to eat them
that I would never have come up with outside of desperation    We’ll
give the comeback a few days to see what kind of difference there will
be, but for the mot part I’m glad to be back to normal!
