Today we went to Detroit to teach the girls Sunday school class, then
on to the Henry Ford Museum to see Greenfield village. The class went
really well as we studied the command, Follow Me. We arrived (after
many turns and “detours”) and breezed in on our memberships.
We had read that there would be food cooked in the manner of that time
period so we turned down lunch in favor of that. Unfortunately the food
was for looks and not for eating so our stomachs growled as we looked
on – we were mighty glad to get home and eat.
There were at least a thousand pumpkins Jeanne tries her hand at safe cracking
but this one was unique.
We met this sweet little lady in the
Stacie and Jeanne were a little disappointed
jewelers shop
to
find out that Amy had misinformed them
about the food -Jeanne was VERY hungry
I finally bribed Jeanne to get me off the tracks by suggesting that we
could get some cereal back at the Inn. A little confusion with
directions getting back – I tell you, people in Detroit don’t know
beans about where anything is, Stacie and the map did muh better. All
in all, a really good day, praise God for a chance to just enjoy life
as He gives it out.

Wow, the Harvest Fest went so well! The weather was beautiful, the
costumes were….interesting, and of the food came out wonderful. The
first was God’s doing, the second, well some of those had to be a group
effort, and the last only came about through the help of some wonderful
people who showed up in the kitchen and worked harder than I could have
hoped. Here are some pics of the help that can be hired around here:
No pictures please!

Thanks so much to all those who gave up study time to come and make my
ideas a success. And special thanks to R.J. who I woke up on Friday
morning with a cry for help and he answered right away.

I want to affirm Micah on his birthday
and point out how the time in chapel was consistent with the rest of
his life. Here it was, his day; everyone has something good they can
say about Micah, because his character is so apparent in all that he
does. But even here, he put aside his own time of recognition and
directed our focus towards someone else. God bless you Micah and the
integrity of your heart. Happy Birthday!

Well, right now I had planned to be in Dallas taking the Pixel This
course. God had other plans. There’s a lot behind all of it, but I’m
totally sure that God’s ways are best. I have a neat sort of peace
about it all and I’m glad that I can be right in the middle of where He
wants me to be.

Fellowship, it relieves the mind, fills the heart and feeds the soul;
it also reduces you to sitting on the floor and playing “get to know
you” games. (this happened rather late, after we had played ourselves –
or at least R.J. – to exhaustion) R.J. must have been really tired but I
liked his answers the best:
My favorite color is clear, because it goes with everything
I’m from Kansas and the best thing about the state is, that I am there.
Other good responses were:
I like white because it is a reflection of all the colors at once; it’s having all of them as your favorite – Stacie
I’m from D.C. and I like it because it’s not a state – J.P.
I like blue, teal blue, because…I don’t have any clothes that color – Emily
I like blue paint and orange marmalade mixed together – Cameron
Yep, I think it was pretty late.
