So as not to hold you all in suspense for too long – yes, I am engaged!

Our courtship lasted a day shy of one month. Yes, I know it’s fast, but
like Brian said; when God gives you all green lights, why slow down?

So yes, I’m excited and happy and will take on the name of Cahill hopefully by November 11.

I will post the whole story when this site starts behaving and will let me post pictures.

Time for another camp update. I wrote this one earlier but then a huge
thunderstorm came through and the satellite wouldn’t work so I couldn’t
submit it.

Besides working in the kitchen I find other jobs to occupy my time here at camp.
Probably my favorite is working in snak shack.

We are here to sell as much sugar to as many campers as we can. (I have no problem with pushing ice cream)

Of course, my favorite duty is
cabin cleaning – every day, rain or shine. But, we must keep the
campers from getting sick and it’s just another aspect of serving Jesus.

Other than that I do a bunch of odd jobs – basically once they found
out I could work and handle a drill gun then I became open to a host of
“projects”. Once I was called in to help unload about 300 bales of hay,
another time it was sheetrock repair or building a wooden gun box. I’ve
also acquired the task of taking leftovers out to the two little pigs.
All in a day’s work!

This is the cross where I’ve had several good prayer sessions.
Sometimes it just helps to have a special place to meet God – and I’ve
defiantly had enough to talk over with Him.

And finally, here’s where I sit each night and talk to Brian (You
didn’t think I would have a post that didn’t mention him did you?) I
talk until curfew, then rush to the cabin and get ready for lights out.
Some fun!

Sandy Creek Bible Camp

After posts on the most important thing
that is happening in my life right now, I thought I would let you see
what is occupying the rest of my time this summer.

I joined the staffing team about 3
weeks ago but they have welcomed me right in to camp life. Of course,
camp staff is a whole lot different than my experience as a counselor
at girls camp. I have my main job plus a lot of little “extras”
but I’m happy that they keep me busy.

My job title is Kitchen Manager –
sounds pretty big but it really means that I make sure meals are out
on time, answers questions from the cooks, make sure people wash
their hands, wear gloves and hair nets and assign jobs to anyone
subjected to my power…uh, area of jurisdiction.

The last manager here had taken up the
name of Kitchen Nazi because you have to keep law and order. I
figured I should come up with something comparable so I titled myself
as “Grill Sergeant”.

Besides the duties listed above I also help out wherever needed; in the serving line…

…putting away food and monitoring age of leftovers….

..and surprise, surprise, I get to clean the ovens! Good thing I had so much practice in Flint.

Oh and here’s a better picture of my hat, people really like it; all I
can say is, it sure is a lot better than wearing a hair net!
Well I must go attend to my duties in the kitchen now. Later I’ll post pictures of other things I do around here.

Another week…another weekend.

I would post about my work at camp but I didn’t have the camera last week and I do this week. So stay tuned, I’ll be taking and posting pictures soon.

This weekend was spent with Brian…of course. I didn’t pack it so full this time so we got to spend more time just talking. We arrived within 5 minutes of each other on Friday night and talked with the family for a while before they all went to bed.
Saturday I slept in more than I meant to (Brian got up and had to wait on me  ) Then we went on this little walk before breakfast into the pasture which turned out to be a long walk that lasted until lunch. We were really hungry by that time which was good because Dad took us to Freebirds.
Afterwards mom, dad, Brian and I went to look at some of dad’s jobs then toured the George Bush Library. When that was done we headed to Michael and Lindsey’s house for steaks! We talked there then watched the documentary on the Duggers – a family with 16 kids and their adventure building a huge house.
Sunday Brian and I went to First Bapt. and enjoyed the sermon there; it was on the benefits of waiting on God.   Lunch at our house, a little computer help and then I had to head back out to camp.
There, hope that wasn’t too mushy – I tried to leave out the details Next weekend I’ll be going to Brian’s parents house – should be exciting!
