We woke up Thursday morning to snow!
We drove to Norwhich mines to go rappelling – in the snow??? Oh yes, it can be done, as Brian proved to me. First came a long haul up the mountain with all our gear. The climb was steep and slippery, made even more difficult because you couldn’t see where to put your feet due to about 6 in. of fresh snow!
The view from the top however was breathtaking!
Brian found a good drop and proceeded to set up a line. We did a straight drop first and then he coached me through a negative drop which was really neat. I enjoyed watching the care with which Brian checked out everything and made sure it was safe before he’d let me on the line – it’s great to know I have someone looking out for me!
After rappelling a little we were cold! So Brian expanded my pyro techniques by teaching me how to start a fire in the snow. We melted some snow and made hot chocolate!
The trek back down the mountain was quite fun – we followed our tracks back the way we came, but could hardly see them because of the snow that had fallen during our time on the mountain! We took the last bit sliding down the lower hillside on our backsides – woo, cold! Our car was a little snowed in but not to worry – the heater works great!
(stay tuned for more fun in the snow!)

Back again:
You know, lucky for all of you xanga fans, I’m married to a computer guy so if there’s internet out there, he’ll find it. Accordingly, I have another post for your enjoyment!
We “celebrated” halloween by eating at Wolf’s Lodge and posed with this witch!
Later that day we arrived at our destination – Northwoods (Watersmeet, MI)
This is the main lodge – but we didn’t stay here, no, we had our own little cabin located on a peninsula on Wolf Lake. (pictures coming soon)
It’s a little chilly up here – a far cry from our recent outdoor wedding in Texas!
We spent most of the day touring around the former ALERT headquarters
where Brian recieved his training. Lot’s of old memories were shared
and I enjoyed seeing the places that both he and Michael had talked
about.
On the way around the property on our bikes, it started snowing! How beautiful!
But we’re not worried about being snowed in – I found this great snowplow!

Supplies include a lot of food, and my rappelling rope! Still don;’t know where we’re going but it looks like we’re going to have fun!
Here is a picture of us when we have been officailly married for 1 whole day!!!!!

Did my three miles today – kind of tough, I don’t know why. My knee was a little stiff afterwards so I iced it.
I ran a few errands – I think everything is pretty much done.

New Flash!!!!
Brian came home today! Not my Brian, but my Brian. Okay, that’s confusing.
Anyhow, Brian Jones is here on a short break from school!!!! We made a
smashing dinner for him – beef, okra and mashed potatoes, finished off
with, of course, Blue Bell ice cream!
Brian also would like to have biscuits and gravy while he’s here
at home. Ah, a true Southern boy. Guess we’ll load him up and send him
back up north for his last few weeks.

In other news….
My Brian is coming tomorrow!!!!!!!!

You can’t keep a good woman down – I jogged my four miles this afternoon, memorizing my vow at the same time.
Oh, and for all of you praying, look at the weather forecast:
