This is a little project I prepared for one of the girls here on campus. Since it’s most recently on my mind I thought I’d post it:
“Love
does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth.”
There is much unrighteousness in the world as the news
demonstrates every day. Reading the headlines for today (only to prepare this project) I was left wondering
why I even bothered to look at them at all – so much junk that pretty much
could be handled locally in a court of law and doesn’t need national press. But
I guess it sells, which is sad because it means people are “rejoicing” in
unrighteousness; they like to read about it despite its total irrelevance to their
lives.
Below are several
articles headings from today’s news. Read over and instead of just absorbing
for curiosity’s sake, take time for a little Bible study and find a truth to
apply to each situation. Take some time to pray for people involved and that
the truth of God would prevail. Then praise God that He has given you truth by
which you can govern your life.
Baton Rouge , La. — A sheriff accused of
having state prisoners work at a stolen car “chop shop” and using
them as his race-car pit crew resigned and pleaded guilty, becoming the third
St. Helena Parish sheriff in a row convicted of federal charges.

Tim Green , has introduced
a bill requiring public school ninth-graders tour a state correctional center
before they start their sophomore year. The tactic, meant to scare kids into
good behavior, would start in the 2009-2010 school year. Principals and
superintendents who do not comply would face being fired.

32, face first degree murder charges for what prosecutors call an
“intentional overdose” of their 4-year-old daughter, Rebecca Riley.
Florida — A NASA astronaut attempted to kidnap a romantic
rival for a space shuttle pilot’s affections. Nowak is a
married mother of three and police believe she was in a love triangle with a
fellow astronaut. She faces charges including attempted kidnapping, attempted
vehicle burglary with battery, destruction of evidence and battery.
– he only missed one question! This guy really knows his stuff, I think the test administrator was impressed.
