Exciting news from the garden!
First off, I finished planting everything – I added carrots and corn, finishing out the whole plot.
I discovered a few bean plants poking up through the soil.
Here are our pepper and tomato plants:
I even found a few “baby” tomatoes! They weathered the transplant wonderfully – no set-backs in production.

To start with, it grew in buckets. We bought little tomato and pepper plants over a month ago and put them in five gallon buckets – partly to get a head start while keeping them from freezing (they can be hauled inside), and partly because we didn’t have any where else to plant them.
After much investigation and speculation on good plot sites we were referred to this charming little spot close to our home. Apparently a garden had been planted here – two years ago.
So, venturing out at first light, and working until dark the last two days, we hauled in compost, tilled and mulched until…..
Brian shows his powers with the tiller… Amy struggles to make it behave.
….We had a garden!
Coming soon – the planted garden.
