Exciting news from the garden!

First off, I finished planting everything – I added carrots and corn, finishing out the whole plot.

I discovered a few bean plants poking up through the soil.

Here are our pepper and tomato plants:

I even found a few “baby” tomatoes! They weathered the transplant wonderfully – no set-backs in production.

I may not have time to post one about our garden till later due to all the things I have to do today, including planting (notice what time I’m up to get it all done!) So I thought I’d take this minute to post a picture of some little friends I’m watching as they grow.

Brian found these while we were fixing a telephone line – aren’t they cute? (In their own special way )
I saw the parents and these are blue birds! These birds are a  little rare so it was exciting to find this family alive and well.
Here’s what they will look like when they get older:

The perfect Texas bird!

How does you garden grow?

To start with, it grew in buckets. We bought little tomato and pepper plants over a month ago and put them in five gallon buckets – partly to get a head start while keeping them from freezing (they can be hauled inside), and partly because we didn’t have any where else to plant them.

After much investigation and speculation on good plot sites we were referred to this charming little spot close to our home. Apparently a garden had been planted here – two years ago.

So, venturing out at first light, and working until dark the last two days, we hauled in compost, tilled and mulched until…..

Brian shows his powers with the tiller…                        Amy struggles to make it behave.

….We had a garden!

Coming soon – the planted garden.

Hey ya’ll,
I had an eye appointment yesterday and everything is healing just fine. I get to lose the goggles and shades as long as I’m still careful.
I do have a prayer request however, my right eye isn’t as sharp as the left right now. I know I still have several more weeks of healing before I know for sure what my vision will be, but I’m a little worried and would like for y’all to pray real hard that God would see fit to restore perfect vision to both eyes. Thanks much!
